Hi, The first time I was in was great , the staff were brilliant but when I was in getting my breasts done I can honestly say they were not so good especially one member of staff whose name I still have , I am not a person to complain but I should have ,

The overall experience was amazing. I would recommend the Spire Murrayfield Hospital.

This private “hospital” is simply a joke. I contacted Spire Murrayfield for the first time in December last year inquiring about treatment options for my elderly relative. A call back was given weeks after obtaining a referral from the GP; the secretary said they had a skilled ophthalmologist specialised in the particular ocular condition my relative was suffering from, and that we should expect a letter with the appointment time to arrive shortly. Beside one letter with the list of charges, there had been no further correspondence since that day until this morning (nearly 2 months after); in a letter sent from Reading, Berkshire, my relative who was now presented as an 'outpatient', was asked to pay a consultation fee of £230.00 for the appointment in January she has not even been invited to attend. Furthermore, a quick search suggests that Murrayfield doesn’t have any consultants for AMD and that their limited team of experts consists of current NHS employees and trainees. Why would anyone leave NHS and pay excessive fees to such a slow, incompetent and cunning money grabbing outfit?

It needs better management. Most Staff at reception are not friendly. The hospital is run like a money making machine. It is an in and out job. I would recommend the Edinburgh clinic instead as they show more care toward patients. At spire, appointments were much later than should have been as it is private and the MRI machine broke down twice! in a row with delays.

I stayed as an inpatient for one night following a breast reduction and also had several follow up appointments as an out patient. The staff were so professional and amazing at their job, in particular the nurses in the hospital itself who cared for me the night after my surgery. They were so attentive and I was treated with huge respect and dignity, nothing was too much bother to them and they made sure I had everything I needed before I even had to ask! Hospital was very clean and facilities excellent, couldn't fault it at all!

After waiting eight months for Gallbladder removal at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee and receiving little or no satisfaction of the timescale involved in the procedure being implemented, I got in contact with Spire Murrayfield. Within two weeks I had been seen, assessed and admitted for surgery. Everyone, from the receptionists, Jan, who carried my bag, Maureen, who brought round the extensive menu, the nurses, Kerry 1, Kirsty at night, Kerry 2, the following day, the theatre staff, the anaesthetist, Dr Pollock (?) and Mr Akyol, the surgeon, couldn't have been more cheerful and kind. My room was comfortable and clean and I'm sure the food would have been of the same high standard. However, my appetite had been knocked for six by the procedure and I couldn't enjoy it to the full. Apologies to the chefs and the ladies who brought the dishes. Especial thanks are due to the nurses, Kerrys 1 & 2 and Kirsty, who kept me supplied with endless pots of tea. All in all, a worthwhile experience with benefits…….I would appear to be "sorted".

I have received treatment twice at spire murrayfield and on both occasions found the experience very positive. The staff are friendly and competent and look after you really well. The aftercare experience the last time was excellent and reassuring.

I've been an inpatient at the Murrayfield Hospital five times, and an outpatient a handful more times, and have always been treated with respect and good care, other than at the time of my fourth operation when some of the nursing staff seemed a little off-hand. Other than that, I can't fault the hospital, and the most important element is that the hospital is clean and that the treatments were carried out effectively and well.
